Why Miqramah Sails?

A rising tide lifts all boats. Here at Miqramah Sails we firmly believe that by purchasing from us (or indeed, any small business) you are making an investment in people, in local economies, in quality, sustainable craftsmanship. We are a small, artisan business focused on quality hand-made products, and genuine customer service. We bring decades of fine art experience and training to our creations, and we truly care about creating a positive experience for you, our customer. Plus, every time you make a purchase from a small business, a real life person does an actual happy dance!

Talk to me about materials used?

All Miqramah Sails creations use 100% pure cotton macramé rope from Australian suppliers. Many of our colour options are single dye-batch, hand coloured under the Jervis Bay sun by yours truly. So when we say no two pieces are exactly the same, we mean it! We are currently moving towards exclusively using our own hand-dyed cords and ropes to offer the Miqramah Sails fam an absolutely unique colour experience, and to further minimise our carbon footprint. Our driftwood, shells, and feathers are all hand-combed from the myriad of beaches that make up our South Coast home, in strict adherence to local, and state collecting laws, including avoidance of National and Marine Park/Sanctuary Zones, or anything classified as a protected/threatened plant or animal.

How do I keep up-to-date with new products and developments at Miqramah Sails?

How long will it take to receive my order?

Our ready-made range (everything listed in our Shop) is packed and shipped within 1-2 business days of payment. If you’re going the custom-made route (love it!), turn around time is generally 1-2 weeks, but it all depends on what you’re after (a 30cm rainbow will obvs be a lot quicker to create than a 2m wall hanging, haha!). We will discuss timeframes in more detail once the initial Custom Order form is sent. I haven’t received my order, who can I contact?

Every Miqramah Sails order is issued an AusPost tracking number (separate to your Miqramah Sails order number) which can be tracked via the Auspost website here or via their app.

If for some reason this isn’t working and your order is taking an unusually long time to reach you, please don’t hesitate to shoot us an email at contactus@miqramahsails.com.au and we’ll get on the case for you!

What should I do if my order arrives damaged?

If your order arrives damaged (devo!), please take photos of the packaging before opening (as it has arrived), and then of the items once opened. Hopefully it’s just the packaging, we take great care in securely packaging our delicate creations for you. The crew at AusPost are working extra hard, but accidents can happen. If any items in your order are damaged, send us an email at contactus@miqramahsails.com.au ASAP with all your supporting photos and we will assess the damage and send you replacements where appropriate (please refer to our Return and Exchange policy FAQ below for more details), we got you, fam!

What is your return and exchange policy?

We do not offer returns or exchanges for change of mind. However, exchanges or replacements are offered for products proven to be faulty (very rare, but pobody’s nerfect!). Faults must be clearly identifiable in photographs supplied by the customer, and are subject to evaluation, and approval by Miqramah Sails. Your choice of exchange or replacement will only be approved/offered once the product in question has been assessed, and deemed faulty by Miqramah Sails. In the event of orders being damaged during shipping (see FAQ above), only replacements (not exchanges) of damaged items within that order will be offered by Miqramah Sails, at no extra postage cost to you.

Do you ship internationally?

At this stage we only offer shipping Australia-wide but give us time! We are a small, local business with big dreams!

Do you offer express shipping?

Unfortunately, not at this time, but we are looking into offering this option at checkout in the very near future! #WatchThisSpace

How do I track my order?

Once shipped, you will be provided with a tracking number (this is separate to your order number) via email. This is why we ask for your email address at checkout, promotional material is strictly opt-in, but we’d totally love to keep in touch if you’re into that! Your order can then be tracked on the AusPost app or via their website here.

Can I cancel my order?

As stated above in our Return and Exchange policy FAQ, unfortunately Miqramah Sails can not offer returns or exchanges for change of mind once an order has been processed, this includes any cancellations. Be sure to be totally in love with your choices, we want you living with #NoRegrets, because the fees incurred the moment a payment is processed are sadly too great for small, independent businesses to bear without payment. We hope you understand!

Is gift wrapping available?

Not at this stage however, if we get enough interest, we may offer this service in the future… let us know, fam! All Miqramah Sails orders currently come wrapped in tissue paper with a fully compostable/bio-degradable branded sticker seal. In the case of fragile items, they will also come wrapped in a protective layer of fully compostable/bio-degradable hex-wrap, snug as a bug!

Can I customise my order?

You sure can, in fact, we encourage it! Be your beautiful, individual self by completing our Custom Order form! Any specific requirements for our ready-made Shop creations, such as special delivery instructions or individual wrapping for multi-item orders (Miqramah Sails fam often request this when purchasing gifts for multiple people) can be added to your order at checkout in our Notes/Additional Information section. Hit us up!

How should I care for my macramé?

We have hand-crafted your unique Miqramah Sails piece with love and care, so we know you will want to keep it that way! All of our fringed products are treated before setting sail with our own specially blended, homemade spray starch: nothing but cornflour, water, and a few drops of essential tea-tree oil (the scent is very mild, and a local Jervis Bay native species, but if you would prefer unscented, please specify this in the Notes/Additional Information section at checkout). We do all this to keep you from having to lift a finger! But if you’re like us, and just can’t resist running your fingers across these tactile beauties every time you pass by (no judgement), we have a few tips for you!

To keep your macramé fringes and tassels super crisp, we’re going to let you in on a trade secret…pet brushes! For realsies! Take your fringe or tassel, spray a little starch (store bought or homemade), brush out from the bottom up (I use a fine cat brush), then take a sharp pair of scissors, and snip off any bits of fluff you may have brushed out along the bottom edge (careful not to trim off any actual length). Remember, this is for brushed out only, we do not recommend this technique for naturally crimped fringes or tassels as it can ruin their aesthetic (curls get the girls!) and this style tend to keep their shape all on their own!

Finally, for our colourful creations, we have an additional tip. We recommend not hanging in direct sunlight unless you’re going for that faded, vintage look! Which, I mean, we’re here for it if you are!
